Joe Lombardo’s Lagging Campaign Relying on a Single Billionaire to Survive

Despite squeaking by his – self-admitted – “adversarial” primary and boasting his Trump endorsement, Joe Lombardo raised less money and spent nearly five times more in Q2 than last quarter.

Four months out from Election Day, Lombardo’s lackluster fundraising numbers paint a dire picture of his candidacy – which is clearly neither mobilizing Nevadans nor consolidating the Republican base. Plus, Lombardo is still being dogged by an ethics investigation and litigation for using his official office for political gain and, most recently, was called out by Trump for the “cesspool of crime” on his watch while he campaigns.

With this much baggage, it’s no surprise Lombardo and his cronies have turned to their billionaire friends to bankroll his lagging candidacy. So far, Robert Bigelow has donated roughly $6 million, individually and through his businesses, to support Lombardo’s candidacy – not far off of the $10 million he’s donated to Ron DeSantis’s reelection in Florida.

“Joe Lombardo can’t raise money, can’t consolidate his base, and is being dogged by lawsuits and investigations for using his official office for political gain – his only hope now is relying on a single billionaire to bankroll his candidacy,” said Sisolak for Governor spokesperson Reeves Oyster. “No billionaire can change the fact that Joe Lombardo is a weak, corrupt candidate with no plans to support Nevada families.”
