Sisolak Campaign in Position of Strength Entering Election Year

Associated Press: “Sisolak’s cash advantage and the funds that those hoping to unseat him will likely have to expend to fight each other ahead of the June primary give the first-term Democrat a leg up as the midterm election campaign heats up in Nevada.”

This week, the Sisolak for Governor campaign announced it raised $4.45 million in 2021 and has $8.28 million cash on hand – the largest amount ever raised in an off-year and the largest cash on hand total for an incumbent Nevada governor.

With donors from all 17 Nevada counties and all 50 states plus the District of Columbia – including educators, frontline nurses and doctors, hospitality workers such as housekeepers and dealers, and more – Governor Sisolak has support from every corner of the state and nation. This level of broad support demonstrates strength that goes beyond his campaign war chest.

Ten months from election day, with five months left in a crowded Republican primary, the governor’s reelection campaign now has nearly twice as much cash on hand as the combined Republican field

With significant funds already in the bank, the Sisolak for Governor campaign can continue stockpiling – and not spending – for months. Meanwhile, Republicans will be forced to burn, burn, burn to stand out in a crowded, chaotic race to become the nominee.

It’s all uphill from there – because whoever advances will be stuck competing against growing support from everyday Nevadans and an already record-breaking incumbent war chest.

“Ten months from election day – with five months left in a crowded Republican primary – Governor Sisolak already has a formidable war chest on his side and it’s clear his message is resonating across Nevada’s communities,” said Sisolak for Governor spokesperson Molly Forgey. “While Republicans fight with limited funds and time to stand out, the governor will continue keeping his promises to Nevadans by investing in our economy, creating good-paying jobs, strengthening our schools, and prioritizing lives and livelihoods.”
