In the past week, two Nevada stations canceled their general election debates because of Joe Lombardo’s refusal to participate. Weeks after Lombardo “committed” to three debates, Nevadans are still waiting on the specific details coming “shortly.”
Last month, the Sisolak for Governor Campaign accepted two debate invitations from KOLO and KLAS. After staying silent for months, Lombardo committed to debates in Elko, Reno and Las Vegas, saying he will “announce specific dates and times […] shortly.” One month later, Lombardo’s campaign has not provided any information about the debates they’ve “agreed to” in Reno or Elko.
“It’s been over a month and Joe Lombardo has yet to announce any details about the debates he’s ‘agreed to’ – leading two Nevada TV stations to cancel their debates,” said Sisolak for Governor spokesperson Natalie Gould. “This is yet another example of Joe Lombardo running from his record, hiding his out-of-touch stances and keeping Nevadans in the dark at all costs. While Governor Sisolak believes Nevadans deserve multiple opportunities to hear from their candidates, he looks forward to holding Lombardo accountable on October 2nd.”
Governor Sisolak understands the importance of sharing his vision with Nevadans and showing the differences between himself and Joe Lombardo, which is why the Sisolak campaign accepted an additional debate hosted by The Nevada Independent to take place October 2nd and to air on KSNV and KRNV on October 3rd.
